Uniform gas pricing likely to impact CBM producers

The ministry of petroleum and natural gas has decided to go in for uniform gas price regime for all the gas producers in the country based on the Rangarajan formula. The domestic gas pricing is currently at $4.2 per million metric British thermal unit.

Coal India to develop coal bed methane reserves

Union Minister of State for Coal Pratik PrakashBapu Patil has said that Coal India (CIL) is pursuing development of coal mine methane (CMM) from its mining areas as it would be beneficial on mine safety as well as environment. Ministry of Coal has made CMPDI, the Nodal Agency for development of coal mine methane in India. At Moonidih mine of Bharat Coking Coal (BCCL), CIL/CMPDI has successfully implemented a CMM demonstration project, which is funded by the Union government.

Ministry for allotting abandoned CBM blocks

Union coal ministry is of the view that the relinquished coal bed methane (CBM) blocks in the country need to be allotted to coal miners as these assets hold substantial reserve of coal.
